David P Robbins
MA/LPC – Addiction Specialist
816-246-4465 ext 3
David joined the Healing Grace family back in February of 2010, after graduating from MidAmerica Nazarene University with his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology/Marriage and Family Therapy in 2009, and has been in practice since that time. David was supervised during his post graduate residency by the owner, Tammy Jackson, while he worked at Healing Grace and Wellspring Ministries as a professional counselor.
David has worked off and on in various healthcare positions for the last 20 years in the Kansas City Metro area, and began his official career in mental health in January of 2006 when he began working with Psychiatrist Dr. Michael Navato at KCRCMD, Inc. David initially began his work there conducting clinical research on the effects of music and sound as an adjunct to and and alternative to traditional medication and psychotherapeutic treatments. It was there that David began conducting educational and support groups for Dr. Navato, and eventually began seeing patients at that office as well.
From there David completed his graduate internship at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation center. The clinical focus at this site was addictions, and most patients were recently released from jail/prison, which prompted David to acquire additional education/training in addictions and Body Language/Deception. David is currently licensed in Missouri as a licensed professional counselor, and holds a national addiction certification (NAADAC-NCAC-II).
David will see any individual for any issue, and is experienced in most areas of mental health, though does enjoy working with addictions, obsessive compulsive issues, and anxiety. His areas of interest in the field are forensic psychology(criminal/deviant behaviors, and body language/deception) and music/sound as a therapeutic treatment.
When not working, David enjoys spending time with his wife of 14 years, and their 2 young children. David loves to play music, be a hobby engineer, and build furniture.
