Destiny joined Healing Grace Counseling Center as an intern in August, 2018.  She completed her bachelors degree in psychology from Ottawa University in March 2017 and immediately began her masters program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Lamar University in Beaumont Texas.  The program is accredited through The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and she will complete this program in the summer of 2019.

She currently works as a school counselor in an alternative school setting at the Success Academy at Knotts with students K-6. She works with kids to improve their behavior to return to their home school. Prior to working at Knotts, she spent four years in the Raytown School District working with K-12 on personal development and social skills, while working part-time at Foster Adopt connect as a Behavior Specialist in the family connections shelter. She also spent a year working as a case manager for the Jackson County Children’s Division.

She really enjoys working with children and adolescents and has a strong background working with a diverse population, with a variety of different needs. She is excited to continue to help children and adolescents with their struggles and help them understand that they are not alone. She strives to normalize mental health and create an environment of unconditional acceptance.

When Destiny is not working,  you will find her spending time with family, traveling, and anything outdoors.
