Tammy Jackson

M.S., M. Div., Licensed Psychologist

816-246-4465, ext. 1

Tammy Jackson is the founder and executive director of Healing Grace.  She has been in private practice since 1992.  Tammy received her undergraduate degree from Southwest Baptist University in 1990 followed by her Master’s Degree in clinical psychology at University of Central Missouri (formerly CMSU) in 1992.  She obtained her psychologist licensure in 1995.

A few years later Tammy decided to obtain a Master’s of Divinity degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary where she received top honors in her graduating class in 2010 and as a leader among Baptist Women in Ministry in 2009.  Along with maintaining a busy counseling practice Tammy has served as pastor in two local churches:  Holmeswood Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO (2008-2010) and Missouri City Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)  (2010-2012).  Her call story is published in a recently released book, Modern Magnificat: Women Responding to the Call of God.

Tammy is experienced in working with individuals, couples and families of all ages through a multitude of problems.  She is a certified Love and Logic Parent Educator and especially enjoys helping parents and children learn to respect one another more so the family can be more relaxed as a whole.  Tammy also enjoys and is well experienced in working with couples.

Tammy would describe her therapeutic approach as one which combines positive psychology with family systems therapy primarily.  She is also full of warm, positive regard which defines Rogerian psychotherapy and any quality therapeutic relationship.

Tammy is the mother of two children, Caroline and Curtis and is married to Jody Gill.  In her spare time she enjoys riding her bike, walking her dog Abby, gardening and taking vacations with her family.

Healing Grace has been home to many professional counselors, social workers, psychologists and counselors-in- training.  Some of these providers have moved on to other areas of practice and some have worked at Healing Grace until retirement. Tammy has especially enjoyed the opportunity to provide clinical supervision to many counselors who were working toward full independent licensure in the state of Missouri.  Missouri currently requires clinical supervision for a minimum of 2 years before a counselor can practice independently.

Tammy also believes in community relations and involvement.  Healing Grace is an active member of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and our therapists and support staff are always looking for ways to volunteer our services to our community including local charities and churches.
